Trying to figure out where to go on your next date? How about the theater? There are a couple of plays on my want-to-see list that are playing in the area this month, and both promise to be perfect for those of us in the dating world.
The first is called “Blind Date” playing at the Garner Galleria Theater until November 6th. I checked out the YouTube video for this and it looks like a male member of the audience is pulled up on stage to go on a date with Mimi, a sexy French woman with fishnet stockings and a clown nose (OK, maybe the nose is not so sexy, unless you’re Rudolf!) I know seeing the adhoc humor that can result from this kind of thing is usually hilarious, and for those of us who have been on our share of blind dates know that it can make for some great comedy.
The second play I’d like to see fits with the season:”Wait Until Dark.” One of the best parts about Halloween is grabbing the hand of a date (maybe a little too hard if we’re really scared) who will help protect us through all the scary shennanigans that we put ourselves through. Even better than a haunted house is a good thriller.
Denver Theater Examiner Deb Flomberg writes in Review: Spotlight Theatre Company’s tense thriller is perfect for Halloween:
Wait Until Dark is the story of a blind housewife that becomes involved in three would-be conmen’s attempts to find a heroin-filled doll that innocently came into her husband’s possession. Directed by Linda Suttle, this production has a few rough spots, but it still brings some decent thrills and audible gasps from the audience. And the last 20 minutes are sure to keep you on the edge of your seat.
But don’t wait! Both these plays are ending soon, so get your tickets, grab a date, and have some fun at the theater!
