Production on Falling Skies season 2 has gotten underway, as the new episodes are set to premiere in the summer of 2012. This means it’s almost time to see what happens after Tom joined the aliens on their ship to end the first season.
The Falling Skies cast has been tweeting lately about being back on set and getting ready for filming, and that didn’t change with filming beginning Wednesday. When season 1 ended, Lourdes was part of the group leaving the school while some stayed behind and faced the mechs. She had wanted to stay with Anne, but the doctor sent her ahead. Lourdes was certainly helpful to the 2nd Mass—Anne needed an assistant in the infirmary, and Lourdes was just what she needed. What’s coming up for her in season 2? The actress who plays her, Seychelle Gabriel, tweeted about being back Tuesday:
“will be stepping back into Lourdes’ dusty shoes tomorrow! #FallingSkies #TNTbackontheset”
The new showrunner, Remi Aubuchon, has been tweeting about working on new episodes as well. He’s just as excited as the actors about getting underway on the second season, which will have 10 episodes just like the first, as evident in his tweet, also from Tuesday:
“#FallingSkies Season 2 starts shooting tomorrow! Great cast, great crew, great writers. Showrunner’s dream come true. I’m excited!”
It sounds like Hal could be stepping up in the new episodes, which wouldn’t be surprising considering he’s the oldest man in the family now. It’s unknown where Tom will be when the show picks up again, and he left Hal to look after Ben and Matt. Drew Roy tweeted the following Wednesday about filming:
“We’re back in business! Day one of season two on FALLING SKIES! Hitting the ground running with some great Hal scenes all this week.”
Mpho Koaho is active on Twitter, and that hasn’t changed with production underway. When Anthony was last seen, he wasn’t doing too well after being right in the middle of things in the city. However, Tom did send him and Pope back to the school and presumably out of danger. Those injuries weren’t too bad, as he’s still alive, but that doesn’t mean they’re just forgotten. What’s coming up for Anthony? Koaho tweeted Wednesday:
“Day 1 of #FallingSkies Season 2. About to head to make up and get ‘scarred’! #NewAnthony #TNTbackontheset #POW”
It’s not just the regulars from season 1 tweeting; the newest member of the cast, Brandon Jay McLaren, who will be recurring in at least seven of the 10 episodes of season 2, has been talking about his new role. He also tweeted about filming Wednesday with,
“Day 1. Let’s GOOOO! @FallingSkiesTNT”
He certainly sounds excited, and it’ll be interesting to see how he fits in and how he ends up with the 2nd Mass. How will he help them fight the aliens and work towards taking back control of their city?
