For various reasons, Survivor: Nicaragua seems to rank toward the bottom of all-time great Survivor seasons. It featured Survivor’s first bona fide celebrity (Jimmy Johnson), featured 2 quitters (NaOnka and Purple Kelly), and there was a handful of unlikeable characters (insert your own opinion here). Plus, it didn’t help that Nicaragua followed Heroes vs. Villains, perhaps the best season of all-time.
But if there was anybody who stood out, for me, it was Marty Piombo. And not just because his hair made him look another 2 feet tall. If you are a fan of the game, chances are you enjoyed watching Marty, one of the better strategists of that season, who was one of the many Survivors over the years to get a bad break resulting from a tribal switch, which took him out of power at his tribe and into the minority of the other.
As many former Survivors are, Marty is still a huge fan of the game, and following this past week’s episode (Ep 3), Marty was kind enough to chat with me about all things Survivor.
Below is the link to my podcast with Marty, as we talk about how a Survivor adjusts to real life after competing on the show, and if he would ever play again if asked. We get into Survivor: South Pacific in great detail, hearing Marty’s opinion on some of the contestants and just chit-chatting about the current season in general.
