CPS in the news
It is our job to keep you informed of articles of interest within the system we must serve in. Child Protective Services is frequently in the news, more and more so as time goes by more people are discovering the problems within this pathetically flawed system.
This morning we discovered yet another story appearing today in Medpage today news, in the pediatrics section indicates “that investigations by CPS of suspected episodes of child abuse were seldom followed by improvements in household risk factors for child abuse. The article goes on to say that this casts On the agencies effectiveness, researchers concluded”.
- We all know that the system created so many years ago has changed, and not for the good. It has become What Mondale warned that it could become. Question; Is assisting families the intention, reunification the purpose,or is the goal keeping the children within the system to extract all the funding sources that have been created since 1974 has this now become the goal.
Funds designated to assist families who are experiencing the effects of a economic challenge, unemployment, underemployed unable to continue their mortgage payments or rent are displaced from their homes through the effects of those hard times. Those families who are poor are often targeted by CPS.
Once again in the article the following statement was quoted. “In an accompanying editorial, a pediatrician at Harborwiew Medical Center in Seattle went further, arguing that the current CPS model “has outlived it’s usefulness”.
- Your Examiner agrees, it is time to tear down the ineffective walls of secrecy behind closed doors, closed files of CPS. They have done enough damage and collected enough money in their chess game using America’s children as their pawns.
Mr. Bergman is quoted as saying “investigations handled by police instead of social workers”, he is brilliant he agrees with FPLS. He continues on to say, “CPS should focus on providing counseling and access to services that may modify the long-term risk child abuse factors”,
Questions; When a person receives services they are offered and paid for by whom, CPS? Therefore, If a parent asks for services from CPS is this an excuse and invitation for involvement and even removal of our children by CPS? Parents who are in need of services will not ask for assistance from the same entity responsible for mass removal across the United States. Asking means losing their children.
One last point for you to ponder, a comment made in this same report by; Janet Warren, DSW, of the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, offered a more upbeat perspective on CPS. The news source quotes her as saying “Over time, however, multivariate analysis showed no improvements in the investigated homes with respect to households that were not investigated”.Hmmm.
