Diego, a gorgeous Beagle/Terrier mix, hasn’t had a great first year of life.
A shelter employee found Diego and his sister hiding in a storm drain one night, and she took the dogs to the shelter for safety. When their time at the shelter ran out, the great people of Finding Shelter in Norristown, Pennsylvania stepped in to rescue them.
Diego’s sister found a home, but Diego is in foster care, still waiting for a special someone to take him into a forever home.
Finding Shelter has provided a ton of useful information about Diego. They say he is wonderful with children of all ages, even infants! He gets along very well with the 6-year-old and infant in his foster home, and he’s very nice to the two dogs in the home as well. He does warm up to smaller dogs more quickly.
Diego has not yet met any cats, so his interaction with them is unknown.
At just one year old, he is a high-energy boy who loves having fun and has lots of playful puppy energy, so his adopter needs to expect that! Diego would be a great buddy to take on long walks or jogs!
Diego would do best in a home with a secure fence, preferably a tall one. He also would flourish with a family who has time and patience to continue his training. Diego is almost fully crate-trained and walks very well on a leash, and since he’s so focused on his people and is very treat motivated, he should be a quick learner. Formal, positive reinforcement training classes are recommended just to cover all the bases. He is already neutered.
Be sure to check out Diego’s famous appearance on NBC’s The 10! Show (see video, left). You can also watch the video directly on NBC’s website here.
