The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Metropolitan Baltimore will hold an open forum and education session Wednesday, October 19, 2011 from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
There will be two psychiatrists fielding audience questions: Mark S. Komrad, M.D. and Elias K. Shaya, M.D. DRAPA. Dr. Komrad is an adult psychiatrist in private practice and chairman of ethics at Sheppard Pratt Hospital. Dr. Shaya is the Chief of Psychiatrity at Good Samaritan Hospital and an instructor in radiology and medicine at The Johns Hopkins University.
The session will be held at NAMI Metro Baltimore’s offices on the 2nd floor rear of Govan’s on 5210 York Road, Baltimore, MD 21212. While this is a free session, reservations are required. To find out more about this session or to register, call 410-435-2600
NAMI Metro Baltimore hosts informational sessions on mental health once a month. Each month, an expert in the field leads the session.
The monthly sessions are part of the educational aspect of NAMI. Besides offering education, NAMI Metro Baltimore offers support to the mentally ill and their caregivers. It also advocates for laws favorable to mental health.
