MakeUp in New York hosted a two day event September 14th & 15th for suppliers of make-up ingredients, formulas, packaging manufacturers, full service companies, designers, experts to present a whole range of innovations and trends at Studio 450, 450 W 31st, New York NY 10001.
The event was exclusively dedicated to makeup industry suppliers with leading companies from Europe showcasing their successful brands here in New York, in order to grow their share of the US makeup market and build new contacts. It was very encouraging to see over 24 solid companies from France and Germany knocking on the US Make-up door, bringing high quality and innovative products to showcase and build business.
In June Sandra Maguarian from Paris along with Marie Joanne Wimmer who is based in New York had both worked with the successful MakeUp in Paris show, stepped out here in New York to bring a successful group of companies to New York for the first MakeUp in New York .They found a great location in mid-town for the event, and went about bring the European makeup continent over to the U.S.
Faber–Castell Cosmetics is one of the leading private label manufactures world-wide, they design and develop state ofthe art standard and customized products. This year is the 250th anniversary of Faber-Castell an eight generation family operated company. Sabine Stadlbauer Executive Director Marketing explained that the last time Faber-Castell Cosmetics had attended a US Makeup show was 10 years ago. The MakeUp in Paris show has grown to be so successful, Faber-Castell Cosmetics were keen to get in on the ground floor of MakeUp in New York. As I entered their area to meet with their team, MAC Cosmetics were just wrapping up their meeting.
Anisa International, Inc founded in 1992 as a global supplier and manufacture of makeup brushes. These are brushes that a designer would say “Make them beautiful to hold and beautiful to work with,” a new Gold Extruded Fiber Collection was used by their makeup artist, she commented that the collection builds on the established beauty trends of infused metals and luxury ingredients in skin care and make up. Rachel Pickett Creative Marketing Director commented “They contain actual silver and gold for a true luxe look.”
Sampling in Europe is so stylish, and you can see when this is done well, it will just reap benefits for any Makeup company. Livcer is a leading French specialist of samples, they have over 80 moulds, Aude de Livonniere- Fourgous Managing Director explained that by emphasizing graphics and color the sample can be presented as a tester or an exact replica of the product. These were designer samples, in the case that if you received one in a department store, you would immediately feel and see the value of the product it represented, very impressive.
Every company at the show was all about quality, Eve Pearl was there showcasing her incredible brand that has become a stalwart in the US makeup industry, Eve was giving an educational class for which her brand has become synonymous, showing the best of New York to the best of Paris
