Can you smell the candy corn in the air? No? Me neither. However, Halloween is almost here and to a make-up maven this time of the year is the most fun and exciting. Being open to creative and loud ideas are a must during Halloween. Now even if wearing a costume isn’t your style or allowed in your office, there are still fun but subtle things you can wear to celebrate.
A few weeks ago I was sent Violent Lips. Now if you have been hiding under a rock for the past few months I will explain (for the rest of you skip to the next paragraph). Violent Lips are lip appliques that you apply to your lips like tattoos and they give your lips a crazy glitter or design. They are FDA approved, vegan and tested on supermodels, not animals.
The older I get I neither have the time, nor do I have the patience to do a full Halloween costume, but I still like to wear a little sparkle, feathers and lace for the spooky holiday. Violent Lips seemed perfect for me. A cute dress, blue sparkle Louboutins and matching blue sparkling Violent lips was all I was dreaming about.
I will start by saying these aren’t the easiest things to apply. I went through a few packs before getting mine to look half way decent. The instructions are easy. First I put lipstick on and kissed the back of paper, so I knew where to cut the applique to fit my own lips. Once my lips were cleaned and dry, I then used small scissors to cut it. After it was cut to fit my mouth, I then peel the plastic off the front and then pressed the bottom piece to my bottom lip. I made sure to hold my mouth in the “ohhh” shape and used a soaked cotton ball and rubbed it against the other side of the Violent lip tattoo. Once it was soaked enough I slide it off to reveal the finished result. I did the same for my top lip. Its exactly like when I was a kid and I would apply the fake tattoo to my skin, but instead to my mouth.
This is my honest review and I really wanted to love these little guys, but its safe to say I just like them. My Violent lips took many tries to get it to look like the models on the website and even after I did get it correct it still didn’t last me 8 hours and seemed to crack and peel once I smiled a few times. This idea is amazing and defenintely worth trying out for Halloween or for a fun night to a concert. Happy Halloween and Happy Violent Lips.
