Epic Games has already confirmed that DLC will be incoming to Gears of War 3 with the Season Pass announcement. Some of it will be new maps while others will be campaign DLC. Some recent comments from Cliff Bleszinski about the campaign DLC definitely is worthy of attention if you want a feel on the direction Epic is going with.
“We’ve confirmed we’ll be doing campaign DLC,” Bleszinski told The Telegraph. “One thing I can tell you is that you’re not going to see Marcus or Dom or Cole in it. I believe that DLC should be unique and cool, like Lost and the Damned, Gay Tony, Mad Moxie’s Underdome Riot. All those kind of things. DLC’s the place where you play and have fun. So that’s one thing that’s an indication of where things may be going in the future.”
For those not famaliar, “The Lost and the Damned” and “Gay Tony” came from Grand Theft Auto IV while “Mad Moxie’s Underdome Riot” came from Borderlands.
So is sounds as if Delta Squad’s story is done, at least as far as Gears of War 3 is concerened, and we’ll get the opportunity to explore some of the stories of ancilliary characters from the books and comics more such as Jace, Sam, Bernie and others. Michael Barrick from the comics (but not the games) graced the Season Pass promotional graphic so it does seem to hint we’ll get to see him in action.
