While it’s exciting when our most anticipated games arrive to huge fanfare, like Battlefield 3, which released this week, and the upcoming Modern Warefare 3, next month, I still get fairly excited when indie games get released on the PC and consoles as well.
One such game that came out was titled Gemini Rue. It’s a point and click adventure game with a noir science fiction twist that really has it’s atmosphere down to a tee. It’s one of those created worlds that you really want to explore and know more about. You controlled two characters whose lives eventually intertwine, but I actually never got to see how, because I had only played the demo at the time.
I wanted to purchase the game, but wasn’t sure about directly buying it from the publisher’s website, so with a game like Gemini Rue, I was hoping for a Steam release. Unfortunately, when I was checking the Gemini Rue boards after release, the game was rejected when it was trying to be accepted into the Steam library.
But after months of waiting, surprisingly. and excitedly for me, Gemini Rue arrived on Steam yesterday, October 26th, and I almost burst with joy since I really wanted to continue the story from the demo. Plus since it’s new to the library, it’s on a discount, currently at $8.49 until November 2nd. So as you could imagine, it was a no brainer for me.
Some of you have probably not heard of this game at all and might even dislike point and click adventures, but there’s something about this one that has got me hooked and I’m pretty sure it’s because of the cool, calculated and slick feeling narrative. The old school visuals are refreshing and there’s a mystery to it all that I just wanted to completely unravel and I have a feeling that it will reward me in the end. If you have any doubts, check out the demo to get a taste and read my impressions of it here. Gemini Rue is definitely a game you should check out, now that it’s been brought to a wider audience.
