Generation Kill – Red White and Blood (2011 CD Review) dr
Let it be known that 2011 marks a great year in metal releases. And please make note that another one just bludgeoned its way onto the scene. Founders Rob Dukes (Exodus) and Rob Moschetti (Ex-Pro-Pain,M.O.D.) developed this intriguing metal works with all the basic concepts thrash, melodic lines and great lyrics and extremely catchy chorus that will not only have you singing along but wanting to break something in the meantime!
Generation Kill’s release Red White and Blood hits your ears like a sideswipe from a semi. Straight on massive attack and never any let down. This release should go down as an instant classic.
Let’s break down this release by a few tracks and give you a taste of what to expect.
GK opens with the track “Hate” which sorta throws you off with a mellow intro but fear not metalheads, it picks up to overdrive. A great track to open with. “Red White and Blood” is a metal anthem with a great feel-good melodic vibe. “Feast For the Wolves” is just a straight up thrashing song with really strong solos throughout.“Self Medicating” seems to be the ballad off the release. Nice slow tempo and strong melodic rhythm. Dukes provides a great vocal masterpiece in this track. Definitely gives you a feel of his vocal strength. “Depraved Indifference” is just a metal song. But not just any metal song. This track will take you to a new level. I found myself headbanging listening to this track the first time around. Would love to hear this track live and watch the madness unfurl. Michael Strong from the Cleveland metal band Mourning Wagon reviewed this track for me and I had to agree with him This song “Slow Burn” is right on track. You can feel the roots from Sabbath to Trouble and does not let down. An extremely great track and hope it really gets picked up on mainstream radio. “Let Me Die” continues the power of the entire release and this track just hammers itself right at you from opening note to ending. Extremely strong chorus and gifted lyrics are prevalent throughout this one. A must listen to.
Overview: Generation Kill – Red White and Blood (2011) is a great release by the band or in this case a supergroup. If you are expecting sissy rock or something like that, than RW&B will NOT be for you. But if you are looking for a thrashing release that is totally unrelentless than make this one part of your collection.
