While members of Congress can’t seem to find a way to put America back to work, the Gig Harbor Farmer’s Market is. Because of the late (that’s a nicer way of saying it) summer, the farmers and growers experienced a late harvest of their fruits, vegetables, and flowers.
The Gig Harbor Farmer’s Market was scheduled to end its season at its new location in the Uptown Mall, 4701 Pt. Fosdick Drive, Gig Harbor (next to the Galaxy Theaters), the final weekend in September, but due to the late harvest and extended brightness in the sky. Farmer Market Manager Dale Schultz, decided it will continue two more weekends, until Saturday, October 8th. It may also be extended as long as the weather continues to hold and crops and flowers grow.
This is not just a benefit for the growers, but also for all the creative crafters that sell their art at the Farmer’s Market. With just over two months until Christmas, creative shoppers can find that one of a kind item for that special someone at the market.
You will find original art being made out of glass, clay, metal, wood, and even old junk. One of a kind jewelry and home art work, ingenious designs and innovative artistic creations that will not be found in the stores full of mass produced items made overseas, these are all from local artists and crafters.
The Gig Harbor Farmer’s Market is open from 8:30 a.m. to 2p.m. for the next two Saturdays. Plenty, I mean an over abundance ofFREE parking and local entertainment. Oh, did I forget to mention the tasty and original food vendors there? Did I say, fresh smoked salmon, baked breads, and if those don’t temp you, how about cupcakes?
Since this Saturday is going to be a beautiful fall weekend, why not load up the family, head out to the Gig Harbor Farmers Market; stock up on some freshly harvested LOCAL fruits and vegetables. Pick up a bouquet of beautiful flowers and get a start on your Christmas Shopping by picking up some original and artistic items for those hard to shop for family members and friends.
There is something there for everyone. If anything, come and just take a look at the original crafters and their works. You will see a wide variety of art work, from metal crafters, stone workers, clay pottery, glass blowers, and of course the one of a kind cedar chainsaw carvings.
