Even Fox News the conservative bastion for news is puzzled by the swift rise of Herman Cain to the number one spot in the polls. Romney the fellow bearing the party mantle is facing a difficult challenge keeping up with Herman Cain.
Perhaps this is the beginning of a new era in American politics. The voting public has a responsibility just as great as the people we elect, in selecting the right candidates. In the past the public has trusted the parties to select people who would do a good job of running our government, and as long as we the people were doing pretty well financially we haven’t been too critical.
The Obama administration has brought a lot of problems that have accumulated over the last century to our attention by the excesses they have indulged in. The democratic party’s attempt to assemble a political machine that can not be defeated has become apparent to most voters, as well as the means by which they intend to achieve that goal.
The excesses of the republican party have also become apparent, and the public has realized that allowing members of both parties to serve indefinitely, has given both parties an opportunity to build political empires which they have done at the expense of the peoples business.
We discovered that neither party can achieve any good in congress in the public interest because it might conflict with their political agenda, or cost them votes.
Both parties promise the voting public the world every election year. They run expensive campaigns broadcasting political propaganda promoting their “message”. Most elections are spent in trying to make the opponent look bad with only superficial effort spent in debating the real problems.
Donald Trump and Herman Cain appeared on the scene and both men started talking about the real problems our nation faces, and both men had real world solutions to the problems that were simplified and delivered in language everyone could understand.
We are at the point now that the nations problems are effecting we the people in real and immediate ways. Each of us has a personal interest in seeing that someone is elected who really intends to tackle the nations problems and try to solve them. Failure will cause each of us, our children, our grand children, and our great grand children considerable pain and personal suffering.
So we are intensely serious about electing the best people to office. Perry and Romney have exhibited a politics as usual attitude with their personal attacks on each other. Both say they have a plan to solve our economic problems, but their plans seem to be an after thought.
Herman Cain has a plan to restore the economy and that plan was his been foremost in all of the debates he has engaged in. He has talked to some of the members of Reagan’s economic team and they seem to approve of it.
That is important to me as Reagan’s economic team knew how to restore the economy in the 1980s. They had a successful strategy; FDR who Obama has tried to emulate did not have a successful strategy. Many republican politicians also think in the same Keynesian economic terms as Obama and the democrats.
This is the secret to Herman Cain’s success; he tells us he wants to solve the nations economic problems; he has a plan that is simple to explain to the voting public, and he has convinced us he has the ability and intention to carry it out.
We the people have no patience for campaign promises this election cycle, we are looking for people with a can do attitude who will put the nations business first. You can be sure we will apply this yard stick to congressional candidates as well.
