Big Brother is alive and well! If you are a true Evangelical Christian, then you probably knew that. Big Brother, a term from the 1947 book written by George Orwell that he titled “1984” has taken big strides since that book was published. In the book, (and the movie), you couldn’t do anything without the government knowing about it. Cameras, camera’s everywhere, and no privacy at all.
Because of what is what is currently happening in the U.S. today regarding government spying, we should put ourselves under what I call a “Revelation 13 Alert”.
Spy Cams are everywhere and are not only related to government, but also corporate entities. Red Light Cameras snap you as you travel through many larger American cities. Surveillance cameras are in some fast food restaurants, banks, shopping malls, and more. Fact is, that in Great Britain, the folks who live in larger cities can expect to be photographed unknowingly as many as 300 times a day.
Now, there is/was the issue with OnStar saying that they would continue to track OnStar customers even if they canceled their service. Well, that was changed quickly because of the outcry from the public and the press.
Cases of people being tracked by a GPS device that was placed on their vehicle by Police Departments without any notice are surfacing almost each week. Today “The Newspaper” reports that a constitutional rights group is challenging GPS tracking without a warrant. That is just what many Police Departments have taken the liberty to do.
Did you ever purchase a fairly expensive electronic item from a major store? Did you then find a little plastic piece about 1 ½ inches long and 3/8 of an inch wide glued to the inside back, or inside bottom, or the lid? That is what is normally called an RFID chip, or Radio Frequency I. D. Chip.
Wal-Mart has demanded from its major suppliers that all palletized shipments to their stores and warehouses be “chipped” so they can more easily find things that they are looking for from pallets that have not been opened yet.
All of this sounds logical, and it really is to many people, except for the true Evangelical Christian! Revelation 13 tells us about the many things that will happen before the entry of the Anti-Christ. The continuous urge by governments, government agencies, and even corporations to track, spy and watch us can only lead Evangelical Christians to believe that we are on the fringes of the end times. However, that said, God’s timing is totally different. 2 Peter 3:8 says: But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.
If you have the interest and desire, you can look at what is going on around us and begin to put the pieces of the prophecy puzzle together. A great Internet radio program on this issue is “Prophecy Tomorrow” Radio. This program deals with the current political and social issues as they tie into biblical prophecy. It’s worth a listen!
