A great first date place can make or break the setting for the second date. If you choose one that is too romantic or too loud, it could be off-putting. Here is a list of places for your first rendezvous.
Let’s grab coffee:
Wired Cafe in UTC at 8935 Towne Centre Dr # 110, San Diego, (858) 450-0880) is a small French place that has live music on Friday and Saturday nights
The Cottage on 7702 Fay Ave, La Jolla, CA 92037, (858) 454-8409 may be known for their brunches but is also great during the week for a cup of Joe. Just keep in mind that on Sundays and Mondays, they close at 3pm.
Living Room (www.livingroomcafe.com), has many locations in San Diego. Of them all, the Point Loma one has an eclectic and homey feel inside an old converted house. The one in La Jolla is casual but usually a lot busier than other locations. However, it is easy walking distance to more fun dinner places should the date continue on after coffee.
If you are more adventurous… Let’s grab a drink:
With 3 locations round town, Wine Steals is an easy choice. The one with the most romantic feel is the one located in Hillcrest. 1243 University Avenue, San Diego, CA, 92103, (619) 295-1188. It is their first location and although stated as their most casual on their website, I find the rustic feel is charming and inviting.
Vin de Syrah at 901 5th Ave, San Diego, CA 92101, (619) 234-4166. The cheese board complete with truffle honey is delicious. Service can be a bit slow here but if you are not in a rush, the booths are the best seats in the house. Although Cafe Chloe is romantic, it can get really loud and hard to build good conversation without repeating oneself so consider
Rose Wine Pub at 2219 30th St, San Diego, 92104, (619) 280-1815. They are the newer kid on the block but they offer a variety of flavorful flatbreads should you linger over more than one glass Cheers and good luck on hopefully a successful date!
