Most smartphones today have what is called geo-location built into them. This technology is basically a GPS tracker that can pinpoint your exact location, anywhere on the planet. For obvious reasons, it can be turned on or off as needed.
There are thousands of apps that use this technology to help users find their friends, family and especially their children. In the case of keeping track or your child while Trick or Treating, there is an app called Trick or Tracker for Android smartphones.
Trick or Tracker needs to be installed on both the parent and the child’s Android phone to work. Once installed, it unlocks a treasure trove of options for the parent.
It can allow the parent to choose time intervals at which to receive notifications about the child’s location. It also lets the parent set up a ‘geo-fence’, sending an alert to the parent if the child leaves a defined area.
The app can in turn, allow the child to see their location if they get lost and send their location to their parents.
The cost for Trick or Tracker is $4.99 and can be downloaded at www.trickortracker.com.
Now, obviously it would be better if you were with your child, but it does give you a little peace of mind to know that you can find your child at a moments notice. That is, if they don’t lose their phone.
