Halloween fun takes the stage at the Daytona Playhouse with a live presentation of the radio broadcast that caused a panic on Halloween 1938. Performers will re-enact the radio script complete with sound effects. Come see what caused all the excitement on that night 73 years ago.
Based on the book by H.G. Wells, the radio drama was directed and narrated by Orson Welles on CBS Radio. The news broadcast style performance that dominates the first two-thirds of the show caused listeners in 1938 to believe the story was actually happening, that martians were invading earth. Daytona Playhouse actors will perform the radio broadcast live on stage while the audience acts as the studio audience. They are invited to ooh, ah, applaud and if they like, scream.
There will be three performances:
October 28 at 7:30 p.m.
October 29 at 7:30 p.m.
October 30 at 2:00 p.m.
Special ticket prices for this show are $7.00 for adults and $5.00 for youth. This show isn’t included in the season subscription.
