I love autumn! I love the colors of orange, deep yellow, and cranberry red that pop as the leaves turn. I love the crisp days that begin with a haze of fog. I love carving pumpkins and roasting the seeds for a snack. I love Halloween!
As Halloween approaches, it is just 5 days away, a fun event for kids and adults alike is to visit a pumpkin patch. A popular one is in Carnation at Remlinger Farms, located just 45 minutes east of Seattle.
Nothing more than a produce stand over 30 years ago, Remlinger Farms has grown to a 200-acre tourist center, hosting over 200,000 guests each year. Guess the first crop for Gary and Bonnie Remlinger as newlyweds. Pumpkins! One of its features is a u-pick farm with flowers, and fruits, and vegetables. Containers are provided. All you need is your enthusiasm. Check the ripening calendar on their website.
Their market has many tasty and nutritious choices. You may find pies and fruit, wines and chesses, and even organic coffee. Also, you may buy bulk bags of beans, rice, oats, and pop corn. They even have a section for Northwest crafts, featuring handmade gifts and country crafts.
In addition, they have a full service restaurant, bakery, ice cream parlor, and large picnic areas. What I truly love about Remlinger Farms is the educational tours and Country Fair Fun Park. “Each October, schools from the Northwest Washington area visit the farm for educational weekday tours. Every October weekend the farm holds the northwest’s largest Harvest Festival, bringing families from far and wide to join in the family festivities.”
This Saturday, October 29, will be a great day to pay a visit. The Emerald City Wanderers are hosting a walk event along the trails of the area. A short walk or a long one will give you a feel of rural life. The walk is FREE.
And do you like calendars? Forget the firemen. Get a calendar of the Tractor Men of Snoqualmie. They will be signing calendars at Remlinger this Saturday, October 29, from 12 to 3. Everyone who buys a calendar not only receives a FREE pumpkin, though a free hay ride, as well, driven by one of the Tractor Men. What a treat! I will be there, because it meets all my loves … color, fall, and pumpkins! Hope to see you there. BOO!
