You love florals and he loves black. How on earth can you find a compromise? Decorating can be one of the hardest tasks a couple will ever tackle. Causing arguments and sleepless nights, simple projects can soon become nightmares. So where does a couple start? How about the bedroom?
The bedroom is place where you can rest your head after a long day. It is also the spot for…marital bliss. As you use your bedroom on a daily basis, why not style it up with some fine bedding? There just leaves one small question; which bedding should you and your partner choose? Below are five tips to make selecting bed linens easier.
1.) Focus on Quality – Setting your taste aside, quality should be most important in a bedding collection. As you don’t want to keep replacing your sheets, get something that can last for years. Choose a set that contains natural fibers for durability and a soft feel. Egyptian cotton is a bedroom favorite for its luxurious feel.
2.) Stick with the Details – While the ladies are infamous for detail, most men do not enjoy a ton of accessories. Decide what is important for your bed and nix the accessories. Too many pillows, throws and bedskirts can become overkill for a bed. Instead, just keep with the basics. Flat and fitted sheets, a duvet cover and standard shams are all that you need for a bed. Remember: when decorating, it is important to pick and choose your battles. Sacrificing a pillow or two may grant you a few perks elsewhere.
3.) Change Up Your Color Patterns Each Season – If you can’t decide on a color or pattern, take turns showcasing your style. Love florals? Incorporate them into your bedding during the spring season. By taking turns with your bedding, you and your honey will have two seasons to display your favorite bedding. Always remember sharing is caring!
4.) “You Take the Top, and I’ll Take the Bottom” – Get your head out the clouds, we are talking about bedding! If choosing a bed set for each season is too much, collaborate on just one. Allow your spouse to execute their love of neutrals with flat and fitted sheets. This way, your decorative duvet cover/comforter will always pair well with them. Mixing and matching your styles not only brings your tastes together, but also demonstrates your ability to compromise.
5.) When All Else Fails, Go Neutral – If you find that no compromise works then you should select a neutral bedding collection. Neutral bedding is wise as it holds no bias to tone or hue. Many couples prefer this palette as it evokes a stately and mature sentiment. Keep things calm and minimal with a neutral ensemble. If you get a little bored you can always spice it up with a cool print or pattern.
