During President Barack Obama’s speech in Los Angeles Monday night, a heckler shouted out over the audience.
Interrupting Obama’s fundraiser, before being dragged out by security, the heckler shouted “Jesus Christ is Lord,” then called Obama the antichrist.
Obama remained calm and then testified, “I do believe Jesus Christ is Lord.”
Blatantly yelling, “Jesus Christ is the one and only true meaning God. The creator of heaven and the universe,” the heckler said. “Jesus Christ is God. You’re the anti-Christ.”
His ramblings were then drowned out by the crowd who cheered Obama. “Four more years, four more years,” the audience chanted.
Pointing to something below Obama responded, “Is that his jacket?” Unseen in the video, the heckler is removed by security.
“First of all, I agree Jesus Christ is the Lord. I believe in that,” Obama said.
“I do have a question; I think the young man may have left his jacket. Make sure that he gets his jacket.”
Finding out the jacket belonged to someone else, Obama said, “Oh hold on, hold on, it’s hers.” In a sense of relief Obama put his head down and chuckled. The threat was gone.
Frank James at NPR writes the contrast between the heckler’s form of Christianity and Obama’s.
“One was as extroverted, loud, aggressive and closed to reason and the norms of polite society as the other was private, soft-spoken, amused and tolerant. Obama staying cool when being called the ‘antichrist’ by someone a few feet away, it’s an impressive ability.”
“Can you imagine what it must be like to be a Secret Service agent in this situation?” James said, “You’d have to ask and answer several questions in very short order. Is the man a physical threat to the president? Is he a diversion for an attack from another direction? If not, how long do you let the ranter rant before moving in?”
James is correct for many reasons. When someone like that causes a disturbance, there are many risks involved. Did he leave something behind, surely a concern for the President?
Obama’s faith continues to be questioned. Controversy whether Obama is a Muslim or Christian has gone on for years.
The Bible says the true testament of a Christian is demonstrated by their fruits.
Matthew 7:16-17 says,“You will know them by their fruits. Grapes are not gathered from thorn bushes nor figs from thistles, are they? So every good tree bears good fruit, but the bad tree bears bad fruit.”
The fruits of the spirit are defined in Galatians 5:22-23,“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.”
