As holiday gift buying season approaches, the Louisiana SPCA offers options to give while giving back.
The 2012 Louisiana SPCA Calendar: Happy Tails, features heartwarming stories of LA/SPCA rescued pets and the families that saved them. Each month you will meet a new family with their four legged family member. Calendars are $15 and proceeds benefit a very special LA/SPCA adoption program: Off-site adoptions. This all volunteer effort enables LA/SPCA adoptables to be seen in the community every Saturday at a different location. This group is truly a force, and responsible for more than one of these success stories. Available at www.la-spca.org/shop
Mardi Gras Bead Dog® ornaments will be THE 2011 Holiday Season must have item. These cute ornaments are modeled after the Mardi Gras Bead Dog® sculpture that will be seen throughout the city from January – June during the first ever LA/SPCA public art project: Paws on Parade. You can enjoy these miniature models in your holiday decor before the life size versions hit the streets. The ornaments are $10 each and bundle pricing is available. Ornaments are available in four color combinations: Blue and Green, Red and Green, Black and Gold, and Purple and Yellow. All proceeds benefit the Louisiana SPCA. Check out more on Paws on Parade at www.la-spca.org/pawsonparade. Ornaments available at www.la-spca.org/shop
Louisiana SPCA note cards are a fantastic way to send your holiday cheer while promoting the homeless animals of New Orleans. Each card in this set of 12 has the smiling face of an LA/SPCA alum. Perfect for thank you notes, spreading holiday cheer, or just a note to say hi the cards are a great stocking stuffer. Available for $10 per set of 12. Available at www.la-spca.org/shop.
The LA/SPCA also has gift certificates available for shelter services. This includes adoption and is a great way to give the gift of a pet to your family while including them in the decision to bring home the right pet. The LA/SPCA also has gift certificates to the Community Clinic spay/neuter and wellness services available. Gift certificates are available by visiting the LA/SPCA Animal Rescue and Care Center at 1700 Mardi Gras Blvd.
Sponsoring a pet while they are in the LA/SPCA’s care is available online at www.la-spca.org/adopt. Even if a new pet is not on the gift list, you’ll be sure to make a difference in the homeless pet of your choice’s life by sponsoring their care.
Donations can also be made in honor or memoriam of a special someone. Your honoree will receive an LA/SPCA card recognizing the contribution you made in their honor and you will receive a note from LA/SPCA to use in during tax time. www.la-spca.org/honor
Choose one of the above items for the ones you love this holiday season and know you’re helping the LA/SPCA provide animal programs and services to New Orleans throughout the year.
