Morality gatekeepers the Westboro Baptist Church have penciled in the Foo Fighters September 16th concert for a scheduled protest.
The band are gearing up to play their second round of North American dates (following the first tour in April when the band played a handful of fans’ garages) through mid-November promoting the critically acclaimed Wasting Light LP.
On August 29th, the video Hot Buns was released featuring band members dressed in wigs eating at a truck stop then walking into the back for a hot shower where they frollick to the tune Body Language provided by Queen.
Frontman and lead chucklehead, Dave Grohl has never missed an opportunity to have fun with the medium so why not spoof gay porn and announce North American dates?
According to WBC, who decided to picket the Foos after the Hot Buns video was released:
“The entertainment industry is a microcosm of the people in this doomed nation: hard-hearted, Hell-bound, and hedonistic.
These people have a platform and should be using it to encourage obedience to God; instead they teach every person who will listen all things contrary to Him: fornication, adultery, idolatry, fags.
The people in this nation have sinned away their day of grace and have so enraged their God that you are seeing new outpourings of His wrath continually. We will be there to remind you that the day of your destruction is upon you, even as you vainly seek comfort in the frivolities of this life.”
The tirade ends with “God hates fag enablers.”
The fundamentalist group first grabbed national headlines when they protested the funeral of Matthew Shepard, a Wyoming man tortured and killed because of his sexual orientation.
Next the group declared its intentions to picket memorial services of fallen soldiers showing up with banners reading “Thank God for dead soldiers.”
Westboro picketed the funeral of recording artist Michael Jackson after his death on June 25, 2009 and in 2010 were at the funeral for heavy metal vocalists and former Black Sabbath singer Ronnie James Dio.
The WBC have been denounced by members of the Ku Klux Klan calling them “hatemongers.”
Following the Foo Fighters concert the WBC will picket the Sprint Center in Kansas City, MO on October 15 where the NBA game between the Houston Rockets and Miami Heat takes place. Apparently “God hates the NBA,” too.
