How I Met Your Mother “The Best Man” recap: Wedding dance and pregnancy secret
Marshall was still hungover from the wedding in “The Best Man” and declared to never get drunk again, something everyone else knew would never happen. Barney joined them with a cast to earn sympathy points from Nora. Meanwhile, Ted was going to begin dating again after a woman recognized him from the magazine cover and then he used it to attract more women. He was able to narrow it down to two. Garrison Cootes called Marshall about his job interview, and after some corny jokes, Marshall found out as long as background checks go well, he had the job.
Barney met Nora with a neck brace and after she realized it was fake, he tried to get her to stay but it wasn’t working. Meanwhile, Ted had to figure out which of his dates he liked more and decided each would “move on to the next round.” Marshall realized that an online video—Beercules—could ruin his chances of passing the background check for the new job. Ted found out he got invited to the architects’ ball and had to figure out which woman to take so he had to make a pros and cons list.
Barney told Nora he wouldn’t lie to her again since she refused to date liars and she tested it. Marshall visited Pete, the guy who had the video up, to get him to take it down. He was busy playing Edward 40-hands and wanted money or Marshall to help him go to the bathroom—both nos. Barney had to list all the lies he had told to get women in bed for Nora.
Ted was having problems deciding which woman to pick, and when he said Lenny Kravitz would be there, Robin suggested he take a friend—her—instead. He then turned to a color chart. Meanwhile, Marshall was still begging Pete to take the video down, and he said he would if he bested him in a game—Edward 40-hands. Nora finally cut Barney off on his lies, but he pointed out she sat there all night and he was trying to change for her. He said he would stay in the diner until she agreed to a second date, and she left. Jessica was ahead in four categories of the color chart, but Robin still wanted to go. Marshall showed up—he once again was in a video as Beercules.
Lily called Pete about taking down the video since she had dirt on him from his exes. They just happened to be in the same diner that Barney was still waiting in, and Ted wanted that feeling again—the way Barney felt about Nora. Marshall once again said he would never get drunk again—but that wasn’t going to happen. The next day, Garrison called him and said he had the job—but referenced Beercules. Ted took Robin to the ball, and she found out Lenny Kravitz was Leonard Kravitz, an architect. Nora returned to Barney at the diner. At the ball, Ted spotted Victoria arranging cupcakes.
