As promised to the Fort Worth, Texas community, today’s article will be covering the second half of understanding how to play Talon, on League of Legends.
“Rake” is possibly Talon’s most important ability. Rake throws three sets of blades in a cone, which return to Talon after traveling a short distance. Rake causes damage when the blades are thrown by Talon, as well as when they are on their way back to Talon. Enemies hit by Rake are slowed for a short duration. This ability is great for harassing enemies, scales very well with attack damage, and has a fairly short cooldown.
“Cutthroat” causes Talon to instantly teleport behind his target and silence them for one second. This ability also causes Talon to do increased damage to the target for a few seconds. Cutthroat allows Talon to join a fight promptly, and really gives him the edge against champions that do a lot of casting. Although this ability is similar to Katarina’s Shunpo, Talon cannot use Cutthroat to jump to friendly targets.
Talon’s ultimate ability is “Shadow Assault“, which causes several blades to be projected from within Talon that form a ring around him. When Shadow Assault is activated, Talon is granted a speed boost and becomes stealthed for 2.5 seconds, or until he causes damage to an enemy. Activating another one of Talon’s abilities while he is stealthed will cause him to become revealed. After 2.5 seconds/when Talon is revealed, the ring of blades will no longer be stationary and instead they will return to Talon, wherever his new location may be. This ultimate is great for team fights, chasing, escaping, and good old fashioned burst damage.
A great Talon combo could go as follows:
- Noxian Diplomacy
- Shadow Assault (follow the enemy while remaining stealthed)
- Repeat steps 1-3
Talons abilities have relatively short cooldowns, which allow him to perform the combo mentioned above. This combo brings an incredible amount of burst damage to enemy targets, and has a high chance of killing squishy champions before you even reach step 5. Talon is very powerful, extremely fun, and enjoys nothing more than planting a blade in the enemy’s body.
