Philosophy of an Action Research Plan
As an educator and as a doctoral learner in higher education my philosophy of an Action Research Plan is defined as a research plan to define the problem in order to improve educators pedagogical art of teaching. As a result, educators will demonstrate teachers excellence in best practices in teaching; moreover, demonstrate the implementation of change for performance improvement in an educational institute or any organization in corporate America.
Introduction: When designing a mini Action Plan for Starters–Entry level Administrators, (Leaders), should keep in mind that in order to conduct the most effective mini Action Research Plan they should start by proactively considering a alternative solution that should be considered in order to mentally establish a vision, which would be established in order to see how the situation should look after changes have been made or addressing the problems or issues that have already been implemented. Nevertheless, when leaders and managers implement an action research they are designing this plan with one thing in mind and that is implementing a change for improvement in a specific department, and for educators that instruct or facilitate a course in a classroom. For example, an improvement in educators pedagogical art of teaching techniques…An action research plan need to be designed targeting the lack of teaching in the classroom. An Action Plan will define the problem, analyze, evaluate and diagnose the problem and…It will ascertain the implementation for a change in best practices for teacher excellence in teaching.
Step1: In order to evaluate or define the problem educators should design, comprise and implement a survey to give to every student as performance indicators in order to define the problem or issue in an academic course. The survey will help define the problem and act on the problem because, students will indicate that they didn’t receive proper training, (teaching), in a specific course. If there are questions…Like did the instructor explain the subject matter holistically, or did he or she answer relevant questions related to the subject matter? Did the educator organize groups to collaborate together on the relevant classroom assignment in order to attain full understanding and clarification of the course?
Furthermore, did the educator implement role playing and focus on developing students presentation skills using PowerPoint slides? Was the validity of the quiz/test accurate, reliable and valid? Did the instructor or professor integrate writing across the curriculum? Did the educator integrate technology with teaching and learning? and lastly, did the educator lecture on the assignment before giving students instructions for an in class assignment? Ultimately, was the educator respectful to the students or did the educator develop a rapport by interacting with the students one on one?Did the educator demonstrate diversity in the classroom or was he or she bias? Was the classroom conducive to learning? Did the educator show a strong passion to teach?
The above aforementioned questions are only some questions that are listed on a survey as performance indicators; however, educators have the option to design the survey with as many performance indicator questions as they choose to design on their survey.
Step 2: Educators should determine the best course of action to take for continuous collaboration with others in the organization– to determine improvement in educators classrooms, and reflect on the results of action.
Step 3: An intervention which should be designed by leaders/managers–in order to describe the results and make recommendations for change..Future steps for intervention should be designed from all participants contributing their suggestions and recommendations. There should be continuous intervention in order to incorporate how the results, timeline, and the outcome of the results will be revealed. Leaders-managers should conduct a systematic look at some educational practice and record what was done, why it was done, and collect data. Data should be analyzed by the leaders to incorporate and reflect on how the results should influence future teaching endeavors.
Step 4: Lastly there should be a continuous follow up demonstrating that educators have made a change for improvement in their pedagogical art of teaching for best practices in teacher excellence.
