The start of October kicks off a number of fall celebrations and annual festivals around the state, and of course Topeka is no exception. Most notably this weekend are the 32nd annual Apple Festival at Old Prairie Town and the German American Club’s 26th annual Oktoberfest.
You can find Oktoberfest this Saturday in the parking lot of Fairlawn Plaza Shopping Center (21st and Gage). It runs from 10am to 7pm and celebrates all things German: culture, traditions, food and drink.
The Apple Festival is from 10am to 5pm on Sunday at Old Prairie Town at Ward Meade Historic Site (124 NW Fillmore). The Apple Festival features pioneer crafts, blacksmithing, quilting and music, as well as an arts craft fair, and endless supplies of apple desserts, baked treats and cider.
