Pinewood Elementary provides an excellent learning environment for children from kindergarten through fifth grade. Pinewood is located at 5200 SE Willoughby Boulevard, Stuart.
Mission: Pinewood Elementary pledges to be a safe, respectful community where diverse learning is embraced, students are empowered, self-worth is promoted and positive attitudes are celebrated. All students, staff and families at PWE support each other through open communication to attain academic success. Students will be instilled with pride in self achievements and a desire to learn. PWE inspires hope and promise, celebrates citizenship and builds trust through positive school and community relationships.
A student that attends Pinewood Elementary was very outspoken recently in expressing the thoughts, and activities being shared by fellow classmates during “Red Ribbon Week”. In addition to wearing stickers that display proactive messages of saying “No to drugs” and wearing red as the symbolic color—the students are very clear and precise in pointing out the importance of saying no to drugs as well as the downfalls of using tobacco and alcohol.
It is clear that the faculty and staff are doing an excellent job of providing useful information to the children that they can use now and in the future with the decisions they will make for themselves and their families. The daily activities that the students are involved at Pinewood this week will help to keep them focused, challenged and well informed. Pinewood Elementary joins the nation in recognition of this important event.
Red Ribbon Week is the oldest and largest drug prevention campaign in the country. Although the start end dates can vary slightly depending on the organization and source, Red Ribbon Week generally takes place the last full week in October, with the weekends before and following the last full week included as appropriate celebration dates. This year Red Ribbon Week is being celebrated October 22-30, 2011.
Red Ribbon Week serves as a vehicle for communities and individuals to take a stand for the hopes and dreams of our children through a commitment to drug prevention and education and a personal commitment to live drug free lives with the ultimate goal being the creation of drug free America.
Red Ribbon Week commemorates the ultimate sacrifice made by DEA Special Agent Enrique “Kiki” Camarena, who died at the hands of drug traffikers in Mexicowhile fighting the battle against illegal drugs to keep our country and children safe.
