Ruckus Sports will be hosting their final event of the 2011 Ruckus series in the Kansas City area on November 5, 2011. After being postponed earlier this year due to record setting heat (Warrior Dash learned that lesson the hard way), Ruckus Kansas City will be held at the Valley Speedway in Grain Valley, Missouri, 15 miles east of the Truman Sports Complex off of Interstate 70. It will include a course with more obstacles, the biggest builds, and a Champions Heat for those looking to compete for the Golden Helmet. The event is expected to draw several thousand people from the area and is fun for all ages.
A popular participatory event along the East Coast, the inaugural Ruckus Kansas City is designed to challenge the physical and mental strength of everyone from casual athletes to adventure seekers on the most exciting course of its kind. This unique obstacle course competition stretches for approximately four miles, and each Ruckus event includes more than 20 intense running, climbing, jumping, crawling, core and balancing elements. Whether climbing up and down a cargo net, running through mud pits or helping a fellow competitor get up over a wall, participants will have the opportunity to find out how far they can push their own physical and mental boundaries.
“We are thrilled to be capping our season in the Kansas City area. The Ruckus team has gone to exceptional lengths to build an exhilarating course that will become the annual standard and will be a welcome change to most people’s normal routine,” said Ruckus co-founder Liam Brenner. “We design courses that are achievable and fun for all whether you are 16 or 77, competing as an individual, with friends or as a team.”
Four divisions will be available including Men’s Open, Men’s Master (45+), Women’s Open and Women’s Master (45+). Participants select their wave time during the online registration process and waves will start every 30 minutes, beginning at 9:00 a.m. and ending at 1:30 p.m The Champions Heat will begin at 2:15 pm followed by an awards ceremony at 3:00 pm. In addition to individual participation, groups are also encouraged to compete as teams in the same wave.
After completing the challenge, participants are invited to stay and “Raise a Ruckus” – celebrating their success and sharing stories about the obstacles amongst fellow participants or cheering on the top athletes in the Champions Heat while enjoying food, beverages and music. Kids can also compete in the mini-Ruckus from 9:00 a.m to 2:00 pm, an obstacle course designed for the next generation of Ruckus athletes.
Registration is now open and is $85 per participant. Early registration is strongly recommended but walk-up’s may be available.
Participants who have completed a Ruckus Event say it was a challenging and engaging experience, calling it “an incredibly well set-up course that offered a unique blend of fitness challenge and left me tired, but most importantly fulfilled. An awesome course, well laid out with the best obstacles including a few surprises too…the was easily one of my most rewarding accomplishments.”
