Earlier this month, world-renowned explorer Jean-Michel Cousteau appeared at the Hospitality Design Boutique Exposition at the Miami Beach Convention Center where he introduced a new environmental collection of bath and body care products.
What makes this unique, branded collection – Jean-Michel Cousteau by Maricoid – noteworthy is that it provides an environmentally responsible solution to landfill waste. Inspired by the beauty and wonder of the oceans, it reflects Cousteau’s life-long commitment to the environment.
The son of legendary oceanographer Jacques Cousteau, Jean-Michel is also the founder of Ocean Futures Society – a non-profit marine conservation and education organization devoted to carrying on his father’s pioneering work. In addition, Jean-Michel Cousteau has served produced more than 80 films and television programs including the recent award-winning series Jean-Michel Cousteau’s Ocean Adventures for PBS.
For 30 plus years, Cousteau and his team have conducted the Ambassadors of the Environment education program in more than seven countries. And he had lent his name and scientific expertise to the design of numerous green hotels around the world – most notably the Jean-Michel Cousteau Fiji Islands Resort.
“Our planet is a living organism,” says Cousteau. “We have the capacity to design our own future, and bring our values and actions in line with ecological necessities. This is the commitment we need to make to the world, now.”
The Jean-Michel Cousteau line of liquids, soaps and accessories contains organic and biodegradable ingredients formulated by Marcoid – an Australian brand of skincare professionals – and biodegradable packaging from Concept Amenities.
The vegetable-based soaps contain raw materials sourced from established plantations. The moisturizing lotions feature grapeseed oil and organic Aloe Vera extract. Fragrances include traces of tropical coconut and apple, and a classic badedas fragrance for bath gel. And the plastic packaging components biodegrade in landfill to CO2 , water and humus, leaving nothing that’s harmful to the environment behind.
The comprehensive line compliments any luxury hotel accommodation and suits all guest bathroom amenity needs. It is also makes an appropriate addition to the toiletries of any green business.
