Jersey Shore star Vinny Guadagnino is opening up about filming the fifth season of the MTV reality show in Seaside Heights and how the locals have changed their minds about the shows’ stars since the premiere season. In a new interview with AOL TV the MTV reality star says filming Jersey Shore Season 5 in Seaside Heights was a challenge mostly due to their celebrity status. “At this point (reception is) 99.9% positive. Even if they’re faking it, when they see us, in Jersey, we are like … gods.”

But Vinny says Jersey Shore did more than just change attitudes. He claims it also changed the whole shore community. “We put that place on the map,” Vinny says. “Like it was nothing, it was dirty before [the show] happened.”
Seaside Heights cashes in on MTV’s Jersey Shore
Jersey Shore Season 1 was littered with fights involving the unkown cast members and locals. Several brawls even ended up with legal proceedings. But those fights happened while production crews were following around reality star ‘nobodies’ – now those ‘nobodies’ are household names known as ‘Situation,’ Snooki, and Pauly D. “The first season, everybody hated on us… But then once these people saw we were celebrities and everything, they changed their minds real quick, and the same people who were calling us toolbags are lovin’ us.”
Jersey Shore Season 5 in Seaside Heights premieres in January 2012.
