Rick Bussey is one of the most well-known Country Music artists throughout Texas. His gentle nature is reflected in his songs and music. But Lord knows he can rock with the best! Take a look at his bio!
Rick is a self-taught guitarist, kicking off his career and talents at age 12. By the time he reached high school, he began to take his talents seriously, by participating in plays and musicals. In the mid 70’s Rick would play for tips on the drag in Austin, Texas, and in the 80’s he started his professional performance journey with then known duo act – “STILLWATER”. During this time the duo played many Austin venues, such as, Ravens Garage, Cactus Café, Chicago House, Austin Outhouse, including many Songwriter Showcases. As a member of Austin Music Umbrella, he achieved “Songwriting Finalist”, for 2 years running. A major career milestone for Rick, was the song of the year award for his original tune, “Caroline” given by the Kerrville Folk Festival, and again, named songwriter finalist 2 years back to back. In light of his achievements, Rick was invited to perform on the main stage during the festival, and in recognition of his talent he received a spotlight appearance with Peter Yarrow. To follow up his accomplishments, he was a special guest on Austin’s own KUT Live Set. In his ever giving spirit and nature, Rick has performed for numerous benefits / concerts in the Austin, hill country area. He continues his career path, with his induction into the Gatesville Texas Country Music Hall of Fame and participated as a “picker” in the Luckenbach Texas, Songs of a Grateful Nation sponsored, event to break the Guinness Book of World Records….achieved with a total of 1867 musicians on site for the record breaking affair. Rick recently signed with Snowcap Publishing, and has finished his “Keyless Entry” CD, which showcases his– vocal – writer – instrumental talent. With Songwriter Showcases in his hip pocket, chances are, you might catch Rick at Gatesville, Pearl, Burnet Jamboree and/or Spokes, the Marketplace in Bertram, Dalia’s Restaurant, Liberty Hill, the Front Porch in Burleson, The White Elephant at the Ft. Worth Stockyard, on stage performance at the Marble Falls Founders Day Celebration- July, 2010 with John Arthur Martinez and Justin Trevino.
