As many American recall from the 1972 Roe v. Wade ruling, abortion rights were granted to women under the guise that a women has complete control over her own body. However, a new ruling by a judge in the state of Wisconsin has contridicted that premise in which citizens have personal choices over their own bodies by stating people do not have the right to grow or eat what they see fit to consume.
1) no, Plaintiffs do not have a fundamental right to own and use a dairy cow or a dairy herd;
2) no, Plaintiffs do not have a fundamental right to consume the milk from their own cow;
3) no, Plaintiffs do not have a fundamental right to board their cow at the farm of a farmer;
4) no, the Zinniker Plaintiffs’ private contract does not fall outside the scope of the State’s police power;
5) no, Plaintiffs do not have a fundamental right to produce and consume foods of their choice; – Court Brief, State of Wisconsin
The ruling by judge Patrick J. Fiedler is a clarification of his decision last week regarding his assessment of the constitutionality of food rights. In essence, this judge has taken away all prior Supreme Court rulings that have supported a persons right to their own body, and has deemed all Americans are under the sole dominion of the state for how they can live.
The original purpose of the lawsuit which brought about this ruling by judge Fiedler was tied to lobbyists for the Big AG corporations who seek to destroy local and family farms in Wisconsin, and other local areas.
Why is this happening?
Simple, Big Ag is scared that small producers are going to take away a little bit of the market share. They are using their lobbyist and regulatory minions to put the squeeze on small family farms that have found a niche outside the mainstream in order to scare consumers back into buying at the big teats. When that doesn’t work they resort to government raids and insane judicial judgments against the small producers because Big Ag isn’t able to compete on a level playing field even with the help of all the subsidies they get. – Activistpost.com
Small family and local farms have been seen as a threat to the takeover of big agricultural companies for several decades now, especially as the advent of GMO crops are introduced into the food cycle. The smaller farms seldom have the financial capability of lobbying their politicians to protect their interests, and major companies such as Monsanto and Archer-Daniels Midland control much of the legislation by the sheer force of their campaign contributions given to elected officials.
The Constitution grants liberties to all Americans to have the freedom of choice, not only in what they say or who they worship, but also in what they choose to do with their own bodies. This new ruling in the state of Wisconsin by a rogue judge who has usurped the Constitutional rights granted to citizens on that state, could have dire effects on food production and consumption nationwide if higher courts follow this decision, should it be appealed to federal court.
