All Hazards NOAA Weather Radio | Live Chicago Weather Updates
Weather Alert: A Frost Advisory is in effect overnight tonight for Kenosha, Milwaukee, Racine, Ozaukee, and Sheboygan Counties in Wisconsin; Winnebago, Boone, McHenry, Lake, Ogle, Lee, DeKalb, Kane, La Salle, Kendall, Grundy, Kankakee, Livingston, Iroquois in Illinois (Chicago area); Newton, Jasper, and Benton in Indiana (Chicago area)
The weather pattern has shifted and will be trending cooler than normal for the rest of October and until early next week. Yesterday’s high temperature of 53 at O’Hare was markedly cooler than the high temperature the day before of 74 degrees. High temperatures today will be similar to that of Wednesday.
Lake-effect rain showers will continue to fall this morning along areas adjacent to the lake. Clouds will gradually decrease today allowing for more peaks at the sun this afternoon. Tonight, the clouds move on and the area will sit under clear skies. This will help for frost to develop over areas away from the lake tonight. Low temperatures will range from the upper 30s downtown to the low 30s well inland.
Even though we are in this pattern of cooler than normal weather, there is at least one more shot of warm weather in the 10-14 day outlook where 70s could return to the region.
Thursday: Decreasing cloudiness and cool. Second day of below normal temperatures. Scattered showers affecting areas near the lake especially in the morning. Highs in the upper 40s to near 50 degrees. Frost potential tonight. Lows will range from the upper 30s to the lower 30s. Winds north 5-15 mph shifting southwest late 5-10 mph.
Friday: Partly and cool with a chance for showers late. Highs near 50 degrees. Winds southwest 10-20 mph.
Saturday: Decreasing cloudiness and unseasonably cool. A chance for a shower or sprinkle early. Highs in the lower 50s. Winds northwest 5-10 mph becoming southwest late.
Sunday: Increasing cloudiness with highs in the lower to mid 50s. Rain potential increases in the afternoon and evening. Winds southwest 5-15 mph.
Monday: Mostly sunny with highs in the mid to upper 50s. Winds westerly 5-10 mph.
Tuesday: Partly cloudy and warmer. Highs in the upper 50s to lower 60s. Winds south 5-10 mph strengthening to 10-20 mph.
Wednesday: Partly cloudy with highs in the mid to upper 50s. Winds northwest 5-15 mph.
