The DJ duo of Layo Paskin and Matthew “Bushwacka” Benjamin are better known as co-owner and resident DJ, respectively, at The End, the tech-house club founded by the Shamen’s Mr. C in London, will be performing live, Thursday September 22 at Lima, located at 1401 K St NW in Washington, DC. Brought to you by Glow and Panorama Productions, Glow at Lima, which was voted ‘Best New Venue of 2010’ by Armin van Buuren and David Guetta never disappoints. Glow Thursdays at Lima now allow and 18 and over crowd.
The two met in 1993 when Layo was promoting warehouse parties and planning to open the nightclub The End with Mr. C, the front man of The Shaman. Bushwacka, previously a member of the rave DJ collective Rat Pack, was an engineer trainee in Mr. C’s studio Watershed.
Their chance meeting led to the release of a number of tracks under the name Usual Suspects. They began calling themselves Layo & Bushwacka when they released their debut album Low Life on End Recordings. Until then they were best known as producers. Now Layo & Bushwacka are regarded as two of the hottest remixers, producers and DJs in dance music.
Layo & Bushwacka went on to score residencies at some of the world’s most celebrated clubs, from Space in Ibiza to Sirena and Warung in Brazil, and perfectly captured their sound on their double mix CD ‘All Night Long’ in 2003.
In 2005, Layo and Matthew set up their own label, Olmeto Records, and released their third album ‘Feels Closer’ in February 2006 and ‘Global Underground 033: Rio (Global Underground Ltd.)’in 2007. This album, arguably their finest work, encompasses all the styles and influences of the pair, and proves their ability to remain at the cutting-edge in an ever-changing dance music landscape.
