The Brown Hotel, one of Louisville, Kentucky’s most luxurious and opulent hotels, is offering holiday cooking classes that will allow you to create Thanksgiving and Christmas meals that are sure to impress your family and friends.
A Bit About The Brown Hotel Built in 1923 at a cost of $4 million by J. Graham Brown, the 16 story luxury hotel done in the English Renaissance design offers 293 elegantly appointed guest rooms and suites. The hotel’s 2-story lobby features a hand-painted, coffered ceiling, carved mahogany furnishings, Palladian-syle windows and Bottocino marble flooring. Celebrity guests over the years have included Elizabeth Taylor, Joan Crawford, the Duke of Windsor and Muhammad Ali.
The Brown Hotel’s restaurant, The English Grille, has been named “Louisville’s Best Restaurant” for over 80 years.
The Brown Hotel Holiday Cooking Classes Hosted by the hotel’s executive chef, Laurent Geroli, the holiday cooking classes will be offered on two dates during the upcoming holiday season. The focus of the class being held on Thursday, November 3 will be Thanksgiving dishes while the class on Friday, December 16 will spotlight dishes to serve during Christmas celebrations.
Menu items for the Thanksgiving cooking class include spiced lentil and country ham soup, acorn squash creme fraiche, juniper berry and thyme turkey mousse, pumpkin bourbon veal reduction, maple glazed snapper, butternut squash ragout, citrus and herb-roasted squab, apple cranberry chutney, tangerine oyster dressing, pumpkin spiced cake, warm kumquat compote, pumpkin seed brittle and pomegranate ice cream.
Menu items for the Christmas cooking class include an oyster platter, curried acorn squash soup, roasted plum chutney, country ham and spinach stuffed scallop, golden beet puree, rosemary encrusted rack of lamb, fingerling potato gratin, gingerbread mousse and oatmeal, cranberry and fig crumble.
Each class begins at 7 p.m. and the cost is $75 per person, plus tax. The space is limited to 16 people. Reservations can be made by calling 502-583-1234.
Special Package Deal for Cooking Class Participants The Brown Hotel is offering a special package deal that includes the cooking class/ demonstration for two people, deluxe overnight accommodations in a Club Room and valet parking. Club Floor guests also have access to the Club Lounge which features a complimentary continental breakfast, afternoon snacks and complimentary hors d’oeuvres and wine, beer and soft drinks in the evening.
Cost of the special package deal is $299 per couple.
