MISRATA, Libya – Pictures and video have been released on Friday showing former Libyan dictator Moammar Gadhafi’s body in a morgue as Libyans are seen at the morgue taking pictures.
It was on Thursday when Gadhafi was killed after a NATO airstrike hit the convoy he was traveling in. Still alive Gadahi ran to a drainage ditch in an effort to hide however was found by former Libyan rebels who captured Gadhafi. The moments between his capture and how he was actually killed is still under investigation.
MSNBC reported that former Libyan rebels paraded Gadhafi’s body on the top of a car in the streets of Misrata before being taken to the morgue.
A full investigation of Gadhafi’s death has been ordered by the United Nations human rights office which postponed his burial on Friday.
Gadhafi’s last moments were captured on video showing him wounded however alive after the NATO airstrike on his convoy on Thursday. Questions are now being raised as to how Gadhafi actually died.

“It is unclear how he died. There is a need for an investigation,” U.N. human rights spokesman Rupert Colville told reporters in Geneva. “It is a fundamental principle of international law that people accused of serious crimes should if possible be tried. Summary executions are strictly illegal. It is different if someone is killed in combat.”
While some former Libyan rebels were heard on a video yelling, “We want him alive. We want him alive” while dragging him toward an ambulance; it was moments later when Gadhafi was killed with what looks like on video to be a shot to the temple of his head.

Gadhafi’s last words when he was in an ambulance were, “Do you know right from wrong?” before he appears to lose consciousness. “Shut up, dog,” one of the former rebels was heard saying on the video.
According to a translation by Britain’s Sky News, Gadhafi yelled at the revolutionaries. “What you are doing is not allowed in Islamic law,” he reportedly said. “What you are doing is forbidden in Islam!”
Gaddafi appeared dazed and deluded to the end, asking his captors: ‘What did I do to you?”

Mohamed Sayeh, a senior member of the governing National Transition Council told The Associated Press that Gadhafi will be buried with respect according to Islam tradition and will not have a public funeral.
Gadhafi has been on the run for two months after NATO strikes and Libyan rebels took over the city of Tripoli forcing him to flee and go into hiding. His deaths ends a 42 year dictatorship that included crimes against humanity when he ordered the Libyan military to shoot and kill his own people who were protesting in an effort to seek democracy for their country.
NATO has officially announced that they have ended all airstrikes and the mission to protect civilians in Libya after Gadhafi’s death.
