In additon to lounging in hammocks and drinking frozen drinks, residents and visitors in the Florida Keys may want to exercise their mind from time to time, especially when inexpensive adult education topics offer discussion of current issues of the day, or writing, creativity and hydroponic gardening. Learn how to create your own hydroponic garden. Hydroponic gardening offers several benefits to our environment. Hydroponic gardening uses considerably less water than soil gardening, because of the constant reuse of the nutrient solutions. Hydroponic gardening is the wave of the future. It is currently being studied in classrooms around the country, local horticultural societies and in government funded research at major universities and NASA. It is also becoming a popular hobby.
Hydroponic is fun, exciting and easy to get involved in.
Thursdays, 10/20 – 11/17/2011, 3:30-5:30 p.m.
Location: Coral Shores High School /Room 1-201
At the heart of who we are as human beings is our ability to create. Unfortunately, modern society does a good job of suppressing this impulse in many of us. This workshop endeavors, first, to help individuals understand what nurtures and encourages their creative writing and identify ways to maximize those elements in their lives. Second, it works to understand the factors that interfere with their writing and explores ways to work through them. The course is based on the concept that creativity, by its very nature, is unique to each person. Therefore, in addition to looking at the many broader cultural, social, and political issues that interfere with creativity, attention is focused on each person’s individual history and experience. Many of us have been waiting our whole lives (and often our whole “other careers”), to finally have a chance to get to the writing that we’ve always quietly and secretly yearned to do. Explore, celebrate and enhance the creative process in your written work.
