The newest addition to the Gwinnett County arts scene is Live Arts Theatre, and what an addition it is. The community theatre group is headed by president and artistic director Becca Parker. Other members of the board include Michael Parker, Linda Place, and Tami Collup Scheinmann.
When asked about the origin of the name, Live Arts Theatre president and artistic director Becca Parker stated “Theatre, music, and dance all have one core principal in common. They are each a living, breathing art form, constantly in motion.”
The theatre has already produced it’s first show, a production of the Jason Robert Brown musical Last 5 Years this past July. The group is already in full swing, rehearsing for their next production of the Woody Allen comedy Don’t Drink the Water, which is slated to open November 10 in Duluth.
The mission of Live Arts Theatre is to bring affordable entertainment and performing arts education to northern Gwinnett county. The group is currently headquarted in Sugar Hill, and performs in various spaces around Gwinnett county. The group hopes to find a permanent home in the Buford/Sugar Hill area so that they may bring the joy of the performing arts to the community.
The group performs a full season of plays, musicals, and special events, and is always looking for new members. The group is also currently recruiting for three more board members. For more information please contact Becca Parker at email@example.com
