Look in the mirror nine times out of 10 the person you see staring back at you is not the person Christ had in mind when He formed you. Why is that? Because when we struggle to hear God’s voice we listen to our own. Our voice is full of fear therefore, it can only produce a guess. That is not God’s plan.
We have a heart, soul, and mind for a reason. Those of us who are born-again have the Holy Spirit living within us, so with that said, why would we even consider going through life playing the guess game? If you want a solid answer and God’s plan for your life, you have to ask Him.
Many of us have spent years and thousands of dollars chasing the “American Dream.” Fully convinced that hard-work and education would produce the life we’ve always prayed for, but we were wrong. We were foolishly chasing material things and shallow relationships, when we should have put all of our effort into the pursuit of the Lord.
If you want to live your best life, you must recognize that it is only found in the will of God. There is no substitute. God has a perfect plan and if you want to experience your best life, you have to talk to your maker and ask Him to share the blueprint.
Be advised, when you ask for guidance you will receive it, because the Lord has been waiting for you to ask. But once He responds a choice has to be made. Will you follow His instruction or will you continue on your self-serving mediocre path? If you decide to follow with an obedient heart you will begin a journey to become the man or woman God saw in His dreams. If you want God’s best for your life, pray the following prayer:
Dear Lord Jesus,
I acknowledge that you are the Son of God and I invite you into my life and into my heart as my personal savior. I ask that you would forgive me of all of my sins. My confession is that I thought this life was about me, but it’s about you living through me. I desire a deeper relationship with you, therefore, I surrender my dreams for your dreams. Lord I pray for a clean and faithful heart. Help me to depend on you at all times. I authorize you to take first place in my life, please guide and instruct me as I embark on the journey to become the man/woman of your dreams. Thank you Lord Jesus, for saving me and loving me unconditionally. In the precious name of Jesus I pray, Amen.”
Congratulations! You are saved and rededicated to Christ.
Now it is time to build a realtionship. How is realtionship built? By spending time with each other. For relationship and understanding to build with Christ you must read your Bible and pray. Bibles come in various translations. Some recommeded translations are: Amplified, NIV, NASB and the Message Bible. Most churches use the standard KJV. Luckily, some bibles come with two translations, this allows you to read the KJV, while also reading the other translation for more understanding.
Visit Bible Gateway to decide which translation works best for you. It is also a good idea to journal everyday. A journal allows you to write your prayers, thanks, and concerns. It is a helpful tool in times of uncertainty and silence, because it allows you to look at previous prayers to remember that even when He seemed absent He was there and fixing things the entire time.
