Louisiana Connections Academy understands that a students academic successes are 60% the result of what’s done at school and 40% of what’s done at home. Learning begins at school and should continue at home. Without parental support and reinforcement of that which is taught at school, students will not master content. To guide parents in their efforts to help their child succeed, Louisiana Connection Academy has encourages parents to take on the role of Learning Coach. According to Louisiana Connections Academy:
” In the elementary years Learning Coaches are closely involved in helping students grasp the material and develop necessary study skills. As students become more independent in the middle school and high school years, the Learning Coach typically provides support, but far less daily supervision.”
Connections also encourages parents to become local community coordinators. In this role, according LACA, parents ” with teachers to create opportunities for special projects and field trips with other students and parents throughout the year. In addition to becoming learning coaches and community coordinators, Connections Academy also has available their Connect with a Connections Academy Parent site that makes it easier to connect with other parents and share experiences.
