Looking for a way to enjoy the beautiful fall colors this season? Hop into your car and take a scenic drive out to Woodstock, Illinois for the 24th Annual Autumn Drive 2011 event.
Held the third weekend in October, this event features some of the best fall colors and attractions welcoming the fall season. Take a leisurely autumn drive along the back country roads in rural McHenry County, visit the farms.
Taking place over three days, October 14, 15, and 16, families can drive and experience the sights, sounds of autumn.
Many of these attractions are open for the season. During this weekend event twelve family farms open to the public. Along the drive, there are featured stops. With antiques, arts and crafts, pumpkins, and other surprises to discover, there’s something for everyone.
Lock in GPS address, 16105 Garden Valley Road in Woodstock, IL 60098 and start your journey. The drive will be open Fri., Sat., and Sun. from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. rain or shine.
With indoor displays and stores, harvest decorations, apple picking and corn mazes, the participating farms have a lot to offer during the annual McHenry County fall festival.
Featured attractions include All Seasons Apple Orchard with apple picking, pumpkin patch and corn maze. This attraction features a special concert by country singer, Annie Kennedy on Sunday, October 16 at 1:30 p.m.
New this year for the Autumn Drive is Cody’s Farm Fresh Vegetables located 19502 River Road in Marengo. This exhibit offers the amazing pumpkin launcher. Come on out and test your strength. There are plenty of FREE activities for the whole family, or purchase a $5 wristband for a day of unlimited barrel rides, tractor track, and 4 acre corn maze.
Enjoy lunch at any of the food vendors along the route. The Lunch Barn features great food at great prices. All proceeds are donated to Faith in Action, assisting seniors in McHenry County, and to local food pantries in Marengo and Woodstock.
Other attractions include, Grasser Antiques, a 5000 square foot barn of antique furniture, jewelry, linens, and furniture trunks. This exhibit features the ‘kitchen corner’ with 100’s of cookbooks, cookware, and everything for the kitchen.
Delight yourself by creating decorations at Schneider’s Ceramic Bug Supplies. The Ceramic Bug features an extensive selection of greenware, bisque and finish pieces to choose from. They offer classes to teach how to decorate your item. Learn the painting techniques from the pros. During Autumn Drive weekend they feature the works of Karen Schneider, an artist in the ceramic field for over 30 years. Pick up your Harvest decorations at this stop.
