Michaele Salahi was kidnapped in Virginia yesterday, reports her husband Tareq Salahi, but he doesn’t think the police are taking his claims very serious, while others are questioning this as a publicity stunt. If the authorities do believe that Michaele has indeed been kidnapped, they would certainly be taking her husband’s claims seriously. The couple, who are famous for fame seeking, started their attempts at gaining fame at the White House, according to E Online.
This couple first became popular as the “White House Party Crashers” and then Michaele went on to “Celebrity Rehab.” She finished up her fame hunting with a gig on “Real Housewives of D.C.,” which has since canceled. Now that they are without a vessel of fame, it could be this is a stunt. The two are all about getting their name up and lights, so maybe the authorities are looking at the kidnapping claims as just that.
Tareq spoke with TMZ today and said he last saw his wife yesterday around 11am, as he was leaving the house to go to their winery. Michaele told her husband she was going to get her hair done, but she never made it to that appointment, says Tareq. He has not seen her since, but she did call him.
This worried husband said he got a cell phone call from Michaele late last night and it came from a cell phone with an Oregon phone number that he didn’t recognize. Michaele told her husband that she was going to her mother’s house, which is only a few minutes’ drive from where the couple lives. Checking up on his wife’s claims, he called her mother who said she had not heard from her daughter and that she was unaware of any plans her daughter might have had to visit her.
This is when Tareq’s concerns kicked in that his wife may have been abducted and he called the police. The Warren County Sheriff’s Department informed Tareq that Michaele had already called them to tell them that she was alright and that she was dealing with “family issues.”
This did not comfort Tareq at all and only got the worried husband even more worried, he reports. His thoughts were that her abductors made her make these phone calls and she only said what the kidnappers wanted her to say. He believes his wife is in serious danger, especially since the two have gotten these death threats in the past.
Now Tareq has done the only thing he could think of and that was to ask the public for help. He issued a statement saying:
“We are reaching to the public pleading desperately for your help. It is our belief as of last night, that Michaele Salahi may have been kidnapped or abducted and being held under duress and forced to tell persons, including authorities she is okay. We are asking the public to please be on the lookout for her, and if found please contact the authorities and please approach her and contact the authorities to intervene and that she may be forced to say she is okay, when in fact she is not and being held under possible abduction. The Salahi family can be reached at 540-635-9933.”
This statement was released on TMZ today. Salahi is considering contacting another branch of law enforcement for help, because he doesn’t believe that his wife would do this.
If this is a publicity stunt, it is ingenious. They are breaking no laws if they each stick to the story that Michaele needed some space and left. She even covered the bases by calling the police department ahead of time, so no one could be charged with making a false claim. Once she surfaces again, it boils down to a husband who got worried about his wife, and a wife who wanted to be alone for a while. Law enforcement did not spend any time on this since they were forewarned by Michaele. With Salahi’s newest statement, he has the public on a hunt to find his wife, again an ingenious way to get back in the media!
This wouldn’t be the first time a celebrity couple concocted a story to get in the headlines when they started to fade out of the public light. Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt created a divorce scenario, which got the two in the media. Then they were pictured walking hand and hand in Costa Rico, which took the wind out of the sails of that claim.
If it isn’t a stunt and it’s the real thing, hopefully this woman is found safe and sound, but if history is any indication of what this couple is capable of, she will surface before the weekend, refreshed from her much needed break from home.
One Connecticut based doll company was so impressed with Michaele Salahi, that they made a doll that looks a lot like the former “Real Housewives of DC.” The Oxford, Connecticut “Hero-Builders” sells the Michaele dolls online.
