What do you get when one man decides to move in with three women – his fiancée and future mother and sister-in-law? Mike & Molly’s new episode, Mike in the House, which aired on October 10, 2011; not to mention the now expected non-stop laughter.
Joyce and Victoria might have not been immediately on board with Mike moving into the house full-time, but they are quick to change their tune when Mike proves to be a worthy stand-in of their long deceased husband and father. Willing to fall in line with Mr. Flynn’s tastes and making himself useful around the house – or “like having a big pet raccoon that can fix stuff,” a la Victoria, has the ladies fawning over Mr. Adorable.
As for Mike’s mama, she’s less than sure about Mike’s decision to move in with Molly before the wedding, though you know she’s “not one to cast judgment on how other people live their lives…” Peggy? Judgmental? Never! Of course, this could be more about Peggy’s attempts at distracting Mike from discovering what happened to all of his old toys. Or just as likely, it’s Peggy’s issues with cutting the ol’ apron strings rearing its ugly head.
However, while packing up Mike’s apartment, I like Molly’s compromising technique when negotiating with Mike over allowing his TV in their bedroom.
Molly: “Alright, you can put the TV in the bedroom. But if I ever walk in wearing a sexy nightie and you give me one of these (holds up index finger), I’m snapping that finger off and any other body part that looks like it.”
As Mike continues to settle in with the Flynn women, he notices that much of his stuff has been relegated to the garage. He’s easily appeased as Molly paints a picture of their future home, complete with a man cave for Mike to call his own.
Though Mike and Molly manage to cope well with this initial transition (it’s only been a day, after all), the Flynn women find themselves at odds. Molly is unhappy with how both Victoria and Joyce are projecting her dad’s memory onto Mike, which is only exacerbated by her frustration at playing yet another round of “car-and-seek” on a Sunday afternoon with Victoria. The usual patience she has with her sister was decidedly lacking.
No worries for Mike, though. No, while the ladies argue, he’s perfectly content to make himself scarce with the pie du jour and create his own little slice of man cave – on the roof. Hey, don’t knock it until you try it, I guess.
From a large and horribly out-of-date, green leisure suit to Victoria’s thankfulness over Mike not “harshing her mellow,” Monday’s third episode of Mike & Molly’s second season shows no signs of slowing down on bringing the funny.
