We are nearing the 2011 Primetime Emmy Awards, and one star of “Modern Family” seems especially ready to continue the (friendly?) rivalry with another Outstanding Comedy Series nominee in “Glee.”
Speaking in a segment on E!’s “Fashion Police” this weekend, the 20-year old actress (who plays Haley Dunphy on the show) had this to say about how Lea Michele tends to operate on the red carpet:
“It’s like a slow-motion picture kind of thing. It’s just like, she puts her hands on her hips like this and like sticks out her collarbones — I don’t know if you can see — she sticks out her collarbones to make her look skinnier and she goes sticks out her lips.”
Following the show, it’s safe to say that Hyland was torn a new one by many Gleeks who found what she said to be more than a little bit offensive — however, she was not exactly quick to apologize for some of her comments on Twitter:
“People have they’re opinions. People also think I don’t know Lea. But I met her 6 years ago n NYC when I was 15 yrs old. I did not intend for my comments to be taken in a malicious way. But I did hate the dress. Called her ass great. Did u all hear that one? In no way am I jealous of Lea Michelle. I’m happy with my own life and am not jealous of anyone elses n the world. Congrats Lea. U know how to work the red carpet. I can’t take it as seriously as you. That’s all I wanted to show on FP. It’s strange to me. I can’t take myself that seriously. I don’t like the red carpet. I feel silly. So props to her for knowing what she’s doing and enjoying it. But I won’t apologize. I’m an outspoken person. I own what I said about that outfit. And I mimicked what I saw with my own two eyes.”
