I drove all the way out to the Rave Motion Pictures Yorktown 15 movie theater located off of Highway 6 for a very early advanced screening of the drama/comedy 50/50 on Tuesday, August 16th.
I’ve only been to Rave a handful of times during my 5+ year stay in Houston, but I’ve always enjoyed the theater. This was the first screening I’ve ever attended there though. Surprisingly enough, the screening wasn’t full. It wasn’t even close to being full. Most of the back and middle seats were taken in the center of the theater, but nearly everything else was open. I probably should have tried to get a few friends in and I debated on it, but it seemed so last minute that I decided not to.
The screening started at 7:30pm and almost started earlier than that. While we were sitting in the theater, the Summit Entertainment logo that played before the movie hit the screen prematurely and played momentarily. Immediately after that, someone from 94.5 The Buzz thanked us for being there and then gave out radio station swag. The last swag bag was given to the person in the audience who had the most keychain coupon cards. The woman who won had fifteen.
There was only one row reserved for press and there was only one other Houston critic there that I recognized. Security made a big deal about turning our cell phones off before entering the theater yet I walked right by them without being checked or without them even acknowledging me. The movie actually started on time, too. I know this seems like a silly thing to mention, but I’ve been to so many screenings as of late that have had technical difficulties and have started late. That seems to be every other screening these days. Luckily this wasn’t one of them.
50/50 will be playing across the Houston area starting Friday, September 30th. Showtimes at Rave Yorktown 15 begin at 11:00am with the final showing being around 11:00pm. Parking doesn’t seem to be much of an issue as there are plenty of spots available and nothing else really around that’ll jeapordize that. You can reach the Rave Motion Pictures Yorktown 15 movie theater at (832) 427-1540. It’s located at 15900 Yorktown Crossing Boulevard directly off of Highway 6.
