October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and Moving Comfort has gotten in on the action by encouraging women of all ages to “feel their boobies” in the 2011 Support Your Girls Campaign, which reminds women to be proactive about their breast health.
Throughout the month of October, Moving Comfort will donate one dollar for every sports bra sold online at www.movingcomfort.com, as well as at the Rock’n’Roll Marathon expos and at participating retailers, to the Feel Your Boobies Foundation. This is the third consecutive year for the brand’s Support Your Girls Campaign and the first year that Moving Comfort has partnered with the Feel Your Boobies Foundation.
Through grassroots efforts and social networking, Feel Your Boobies hopes its unexpected and unconventional methods and edgy slogans will effectively deliver a life-saving message to women of all ages. Founder Leigh Hurst speaks from personal experience: In 2004 she was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 33, and because she was in touch with her body, she was able to detect a lump that otherwise went unnoticed by doctors.
“If my story helps inspire just one young woman to start “feeling their boobies” or one young survivor to realize that there is life after breast cancer, then I have done something that feels like my life has had purpose,” says Hurst. “I read a quote a while back that said, ‘Courage is not moving forward without fear; courage is moving forward despite fear,’ and I feel that this is how I would like to live my life while I’m here because you just never know what tomorrow might bring.”
If you’re looking to participate in this month’s cmapign, but need a suggestion regarding the best bra to protect your assets during exercise, I recommend Moving Comfort’s new Rebound Racer sports bra, which offers high-impact support in a sleek, seam-free design. Molded cups provide shape and stability in all the right places, but the best part is that it’s adjustable, so you can customize the fit for personal comfort. Shoulder straps can be lengthened or shortened quickly, thanks to a hidden Velcro closure, plus the back features hook-and-eye closure – just like a regular bra – for easier on-and-off.
The closest 2011 Support Your Girls Campaign participating retailer for San Jose residents is Fleet Feet Sports at 45B Crescent Drive in Pleasant Hill, Calif.
