There’s nothing children enjoy better than to get down and dirty in the Mud Pit at Norman Bird Sanctuary’s annual Harvest Fair in Middletown, RI. Slated for Saturday and Sunday of this weekend, the weather is sure to cooperate with intermittent showers predicted by Weather.com for the Aquidneck Island landmark event on October 1st and 2nd from 10 am to 5 pm. The 325-acre wildlife refuge with ocean view hiking trails is just one of the Island’s treasures among things to do and experience near Newport RI.
The Harvest Fair attracts 13,000 people annually and is always a highly anticipated event, an old-fashioned New England autumn fair with local handmade vendors, regional food, children’s games and crafting activities, hay rides, a mud pit, monkey bridge and more. The Fair hosts a home and garden competition, scarecrow contest, and the popular Country Store with homemade pies, cakes, jams, jellies, and fudge for sale. It’s an old-fashioned fun family good time every year at the Norman Bird Sanctuary (NBS) Harvest Fair.
NBS is a year-round educational experience, a part of the Aquidneck Island Nature Collaborative, with summer camps, winter classes, and seven miles of hiking trails with ocean views, main entrance located at 583 Third Beach Road, Middletown RI. For more information visit normanbirdsanctuary.org.
