For Seattle-area pet owners who are concerned with their dog’s nutrition, Hill’s Science Diet has a new pet nutrition program to elucidate the mysteries behind proper pet nutrition.
Between calorie counting, protein content, fat content, and carbohydrates, human nutritional requirements can be confusing. Pet owners are finding that proper pet nutrition is equally unclear. According to a recent pet nutrition study, 69 percent of dog owners needed assistance with understanding their dog’s nutritional requirements.
Veterinarian Jennifer Coates concurs with this lack of nutritional clarity. “The most common dietary question I hear from owners is, ‘What should I feed my dog?’ Because of a lack of information, owners focus almost exclusively on the ingredients in their dogs’ food,” Dr. Coates stated.
To address this concern, PetMD and Hill’s Pet Nutrition are partnering to create MyBowl for dogs. This one-of-a-kind interactive tool is designed to put canine nutrition in terms that owners can understand. MyBowl will illustrate, educate, and decode the nutritional requirements of all canine companions.
“While high-quality ingredients are important, of course, the MyBowl tool will help owners determine whether or not the food they feed also provides properly balanced nutrition and if not, switch to one that does,” Dr. Coates stated.
A healthy diet is integral to any dog’s well-being. “Good nutrition is important for all aspects of a dog’s life,” Dr. Coates explained. “A well-functioning immune system is dependent upon the proper levels and balance between vitamins, minerals, fatty acids, and more. The MyBowl tool will help owners examine the recommendations they get from their friends, family, veterinarians, and from online sources to make sure that the food they end up choosing provides their dogs with properly balanced nutrition.”
MyBowl will illustrate the proper proportions of essential nutrients that dogs need, including carbohydrates, protein, minerals, vitamins, fats and oils. It will educate owners about the specific benefits that each nutrient delivers when it is fed in the right balance. And it will decode the dog food label so owners ensure their dog is receiving the proper balance of nutrients at each meal.
Hill’s has also recently launched new Science Diet Ideal Balance pet food, which is a wholesome, meat-first, corn-free pet food. Ideal Balance is guaranteed to make a visible, healthy difference in your dog’s health within just thirty days.
Ideal Balance is sold at pet specialty retailers like PetSmart and PETCO at retailers throughout the Seattle area.
