Yoga Month is a national observance designated by the Department of Health & Human Services, designed to build awareness of yoga’s proven health benefits and provide people with actionable guidance and tools to enhance their own well-being.
To start yoga for the first time, come as you are. You do not need to stop smoking or lose weight or give birth, first. Yoga can enhance your physical and mental health and help you to develop self-discipline, no matter what your age. Begin where you are.
Yoga poses, fear them not. They may be challenging or seemingly awkward at first, but they are not impossible. Everyone is a beginner at some point, concentrate on your own capabilities not on others’. Yoga is not a competitive sport. The focus is inward. The instructors will guide you with clear instruction and gentle encouragement.
Open yourself up to new possibilities. If your ideas of you are based on your past, let go of your old energy blocks and take control of your well-being. It may be gradual or it may be dramatic. Change happens.
What yoga can do for you. Yoga is a stress zapper. Enjoying your life more fully by achieving the union of body, mind and spirit, is an energy builder.
Peace of mind and higher awareness. Freedom from the load on your back, thoughts that hold you back, is a giant step toward peace of mind. You feel lighter, ridding your self of limitations and acceptance of your life, helps you to realize challenges have their place. Yoga will help you to realize your potential and encourages self-growth.
Awareness, mindfulness, you may notice sights, sounds, smells, tastes and the wonderful variety around you. Higher awareness is dorected inward first, then it flows outward to help better the world.
