If there was one part of “The Voice’s” live shows (which were by and large pretty solid) that we found a little bit strange, it was the constant insistence on implementing social media into the show. After all, we had a host during this broadcast simply to tell you how many things were trending around the United States — which is well and good, but also not entirely necessarily since people will probably tweet regardless.
There is one major change coming for this aspect of the show — but it’s not going to be the segment itself. Rather, NBC has announced that they are hiring Christina Milian to be the new correspondent for season 2, which means that she will now be the person reading off various Twitter messages backstage. Milian certainly has a history in performing herself, and it puts yet another musician on a show that already includes four popular mentors and a host who has a place in MTV lore in Carson Daly.
“The Voice” is set to premiere in February after the Super Bowl — and obviously, the goal here is for the show to build enough of an audience on Monday nights that people will want to stay around over watching “Dancing with the Stars.”
